Wheat and Millet Dosai – Wheat and Siru dhaniya Dosa Recipe
Millet grains are fast becoming popular amongst us, but the real fact is that using millets in day-to-day meals are just one among the various daily traditions or living habits followed by our ancestors. Its now regaining its importance thanks to the plethora of health habits they provide, giving generous amounts of essential nutrients, yet helping us to keep our body fit and fine.
In this recipe, we can use any one of the following millets.
Kodo millet – varagu
Little millet – saamai
Pearl millet – kambu
Sorghum – cholam
Ingredients:
Wheat grains – 2 cups
Millet -1 cup
Idli rice – ½ cup
Urad dal – a handful
Fenugreek seeds – 10-15
Salt- as needed
Method:
- Soak wheat, rice, millet, dal and methi for about 8 hours. Since we use wheat as a whole, saoking them for such long hours is necessary.
- Grind them all to the consistency of dosa batter (if you want to make it thicker to make it like uthappams). Add salt.
- Allow it to ferment for a few hours.
- Prepare dosas out of this batter like any other dosa you make.
PS:
- Enrich the taste by adding finely chopped onions and green chillies.
- You can add grated coconut also.
- Adding curryleaves or methi leaves or drumstick leaves along with all or any of the above, you can prepare them as tasty adais also.
