Easy and Spicy Potato balls – Urulai kizhangu Bonda
Potato is everyone’s favourite, especially for kids. Here is a simple, tasty and easy-to-prepare potato snack for family time during evenings and weekends.
Potato – 2
Onion – 2
Green chillies – 2
Besan flour – 100 gm
Turmeric powder – a pinch or two
Salt – as per taste
Jeera/ cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Oil – as needed for frying
Method:
- Pressure cook potatoes till they are soft enough to mash. Mash them n keep
- Make a watery solution with besan flour and salt. The consistency can be as that of how you make bhajjis.
- Chop onions and green chillies finely.
- Heat oil in a kadai. Splutter jeera seeds, sauté onion and green chillies until onions becomes transparent. Add mashed potatoes and a little salt (optional). Cook them until all get mixed well.
- Bring down the potato mixture and make tiny balls out of them.
- Heat oil in a kadai (for deep frying) Soak the balls into the besan flour solution and fry them in oil until they are cooked well.
- A quick evening snack is ready at the table.
PS:
- Instead of besan flour, you can also use maida. Both taste yummy
- Adding a few chopped strands of coriander leaves while cooking the onion and potato can add good flavor too.
