Easy and Healthy Kids Recipes - Mutton Coconut Soup

This recipe is actually not a soup but a slightly thickened side dish for a recipe known as "Thikkadi" which is very popular in a few parts of Theni district, as much as that these two dishes are a must when a feast is arranged for the newly married couple at the bride's house.

I just made a little variation and prepared it as a soup, as the total and real essence, taste and nutrients of coconut and mutton can be relished by kids as well.

Mutton - 10-13 pieces

Coconut - 6-7 2-inch long pieces

Shallots - 3-4

Garlic - 3-4 pods

Cumin/Jeera Powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Turmeric powder - a pinch

Salt - as needed

Method:

1. Grind shallots and garlic pods to a very coarse paste and keep it aside.

2. Pressure cook mutton, ground paste, coconut, jeera powder, turmeric powder, salt and water till the mutton is cooked well and is soft.

3. Soup is ready.

Kids can drink it as such or have it with rice, idli or dosai.

Note:

1. Those who want a little more spice can sprinkle a little pepper powder over the preparation.

2. Garnish it with a few coriander leaves for that extra fragrance and flavor.

நாங்க Mutton சூப் னா நெஞ்செலும்பு இல்லை கால் தான் பண்ணுவோம்......

கறிவேப்பிலை, சின்னவெங்காயம், pepper and சீரகம் must.....
Without coconut......
